Weird dreams again, late morning. I got up half eight!
It's a sunny day, no cloud in sight. I should really stay indoors - but ... well ... I'd much rather work in the garden today. I considered taking the fan blades off, in my bedroom, to give them a thorough cleaning - I had cleaned them before, so they're no longer black, but some greasy dust you just can't get off working overhead. To get them properly clean, I'll need to take them off ...
But, I don't feel like it now. Now, I'd really like to properly mow the partition outside my bedroom ... it's just past nine, and already 25 Celsius!
Okay, it took only half an hour - but what a half hour! I am soaking wet! Phew! I mowed the section first on the highest setting, then the second highest setting and lastly on the second lowest setting. I didn't have the energy to go all the way to the shortest setting. It looks much, much better, though! Now I'm taking a break, while I decide what I want to do next.
Part of me wants to carry on in that section, get all of it back to standard ... but the jungle under the trees could also use attention ...
In case you're wondering: THIS is, what four hours hard labour look like! On the left you can get an idea what it looked like before. On the right you can see what I've cleared. Plus the bed around the Ponytail in the front, of course!
Small problem, though. That tree in the center background ... it's mostly dead. And it creaks quite ominously in the wind! Last thing I need is a tree falling on top of me, while I'm weeding, eh?
One good thing, though: the ground is so soft from all that rain, I'm able to pull out quite a lot of creeper bulbs! And, for the first time, I'm pulling out weeds there, roots and all. In the past, I've mostly just pulled them off. Oh, I pulled roots, where I could, but mostly, they never came all the way out ... today, they obligingly come out!
Half four ... I'm done! As in: knackered! I've cleared up to the tree, just past it, actually. Front and back. You can now see the water bowl again - which I've also cleaned. Yes, at the bottom of that tap, there's a stone water bowl. Like a bird bath. I need to scrub the algae out, one of these days.
The only issue I have with today's labour is, that it isn't visible from my usual seat on the veranda! I've had to move the chair, so I could admire my achievements!
Well, the forecast says 0% chance of rain, with clouds starting to move in over night. Well, they're ahead of schedule. By about 12 hours! Clouds are already moving in, though it doesn't look like they'll bring rain anytime soon ...
Of course, I'm not done completely ... I just can't help myself. What I should be doing, is to maintain existing beds! But what do I do? I finish a new bed! Well, I've wanted that bed for a long, long time ... now it's done! Although the soil looks really good, I mixed in some compost and some bone meal.
I planted the Tulip bulbs, outside and one in the center. There were three - I'm afraid they look dead, though. Then I planted the Daffodil bulbs, three large and two small ones. They still seemed to have some life in them. The bulbs are all placed in the center of the bed.
I planted what you can see - not sure what they are called, though. These, I planted at the back, quite close to the wall. One pink, one white, pink, white, and pink again.
Okay, I looked them up: they're Periwinkle, or Vinca. I did scatter some Vinca seeds in a pot, but when nothing showed up, I scattered pansy seeds ... none of those have come up, at all, though!
Lastly, scattered some seeds. On the right half, I scattered Dianthus and on the left Aquilegia, McKana Giants.
Again: can't enjoy the view from my seat on the veranda .... pffft! So, I had to go for a walk around the garden. Mewthos followed me ... and then he followed Ziva on top of the wall ... and couldn't get down! Same story, every time! He mindlessly gets up to places without a thought of how to get down! Then I must come, bend, and let him jump onto my back! Silly goose!
I had to pick Ziva off the wall, as well, I'm afraid - she was teasing Smeagol, who was on the other side of the wall ... silly girl!
I did get quite burned by the sun, today. It was the first job, I'm afraid. I couldn't stick to clearing just where there was shade, oh, no! I had to clear properly! From the fence! And that section was in full sun ...
By five, the clouds had cleared off again. Maybe they'll come back, on schedule, ha ha! Well, tomorrow should be partly cloudy, with rain in the late afternoon ...
It's almost eight, and we've only just come in! Mippies are treated ... now for a hot bath, followed by dinner and a movie ... still watching Rosemary and Thyme!
