Early morning, yay! Only ... what shall I do? It's the kid-in-the-candy-store effect again - I want so much done, I don't know where to start.
I've been reading my post from last year, this day. It's motivating, as I've made a lot of progress in the garden since then! My work is paying off!
Right now, I can't work in the garden, since everything is still wet with dew. So, I decided to start inside. I've been trying to decide whether I should start in the lounge - which is the area visitors see first, or start at the back? Well, I decided to start at the back. The spare bedroom is still the cleanest, since I barely use it, so I'm starting in the passage, at the entrance to the spare bedroom. I've cleared the tiles and the door.
As usual, there is still a lot of construction left-over to clean up! Globs of cement, paint spatter, the usual ... which I've found in every single place I've ever lived in, regardless how long ago such construction had taken place! I'm not going to clean it ALL this time, just the most visible - for now.
See the difference? Okay, the tiles themselves aren't really that dark - that's shadow. But look at the difference in the grouting. And the skirting at the top left! THAT is what I'm doing ... deep cleaning. Steam cleaning. If you've ever done it yourself, you'll know that - as you'll know that, as you steam, you're loosening whatever added to the dirt ... and mostly, for some reason, there's always a lot of vomit in there ... and when you steam clean, it STINKS!
Well, I'm done for today. I cleaned the tiles from the spare bedroom just past the bathroom door, the spare bedroom door, the bathroom door, both door frames ...
Now, I'm mowing the lawn! Yes, it's only Wednesday ... and if I wait until Friday, I won't be able to mow ... it's that bad!
It's just gone noon. I finished the back lawn, the partition around the dog hut ... when I tried to move the wooden toy in the center, I saw a frog living under it! So, I left it. I've done about a third of the front lawn ... looks like rain. Which is why I'm mowing - it's overcast, not blazing sun! Well, rain is forecast ... I guess I better try to finish mowing before it starts!
Of course, as soon as I go out again, the sun comes through! I think I'm burning my back again - and it's only just started peeling from the last time! Well, it's twenty to one, highest % chance of rain is forecast between one and two ... well, I've done from the partitions up to the center ponytail, and from the house past the center ponytail. Just the back section still to do ... oh, and I haven't touched the partition behind the grapevine!
That tortoise sure has been busy! It's explored the entire section from end to end! So, at least I can now be sure that it can't get out! It's explore all along the wall, the fence - the whole lot! Everything in that section is growing out of control - I'm going to have to make a plan to mow there soon!
Forecast still claims 61% chance of rain around two - it's half two now, and all I see in the sky is sunshine, with a few clouds. I haven't finished mowing - I still have the part in front of the rose beds to do ... and the sun is blazing ...
The weather can't seem to make up its mind, one minute blazing sunshine, next minute overcast ... I, however, have had it, for today. I've mowed most of the lawn - and my body has had enough. Well, my body has, at any rate. Don't ask me how I'm going to keep this up - mowing the lawn regularly, that is.
Well, I've taken a shower and now I'm trying out my new frying pan! Mewthos is mewling along ... mew, mew, mew ... annoying, isn't it? Especially when it goes on and on and on ...
Tiny little problem: I chewed on the wrong side ... and now I'm in agony! That's not an exaggeration, believe me. From jaw to the top of my head - even my hair seems to hurt! And that's AFTER I've taken about half a dozen extra strong Aspirin AND an extra strong Ibuprofen!
And with regards to how I'll cope with the mowing? Well, by reducing the amount that needs to be mowed, of course! Cleaning, clearing, making more beds ... And I've started, by covering that horror patch in front of the rose beds with the weed guard. I think I'll place the drop sheet in that horror partition - the sheet is 2x5 m, I'll have to take it section by section. Keep it in place until everything withers, so I can turn the soil and pull it all out.
Just came across something, which is just so appropriate: "When there is no consequence for poor work ethic, and no reward for good work ethic, there is no motivation."
Speaking of which, I haven't been paid, yet. And it's half-way through the month ... I'm going to have to call my boss and ask for at least enough to pay the rent!
Well, tomorrow I'll have to finish mowing. And come up with a plan to do something about the section the tortoise is currently inhabiting. Without traumatising the poor thing ... I'll also have to do something about that horror section. But that's tomorrow's problem.
For now, mippies are inside. And after another half dozen heavy duty Aspirin, another extra strength Ibuprofen and an anti-inflammatory ... the pain is tolerable.
