Thursday, 9th December
Good night, good morning. Not too early, I only got up around six.
Mini is worrying me. Last night, when I was stroking her back, she growled, and then moved away, giving me an apologetic look. This morning, when I picked her up, she whimpered until I put her down. I'm keeping an eye on her, for now ...
I quickly went to get groceries - mostly meat & milk. I'm horrified at the sudden price increases on meat! 15% in one week! And that's on top of the 20% it's climbed up over the past 2 months! At this rate, I'm forced to become a vegetarian - which is not my personal preference!
Well, on Tuesday, I'll go to Ninapark Superspar. See what they have to offer.
I've just stumbled across this meme on Facebook:
It really expresses just why I have this almost desperate desire to do something creative, some art project ... it's not about producing something beautiful, it's more about pouring out your soul, if that makes sense? I mean, it's not about how good I am (or bad) at whatever I'm creating, but about the quiet time spent, focused only on creating - not cleaning, not 'musts', just ... play. Well, with curious mips interrupting to investigate every step of the way, of course!
It's when my focus is on the result, that I loose out. When I keep my focus on what I'm doing - and forget about the result - that I really find myself. And, to allow me the TIME to do whatever, at my own pace ... a weekend just doesn't cut it. Not even a three day weekend ... well, once I have the garden under more control, it might, but at this stage ... nope!
Last night's weeding, though, was encouraging - as I noticed far fewer weeds than there had been before. Or rather, there's a definite change in which weeds are now growing there. I think I'll grow Nasturtiums there ... they'll cover the ground, look very different from any weeds ... when I change my mind, I'll just have to pull out any new growth.
Just as I was driving out the gate, a neighbour called! One I haven't mentioned before. He's called 'snake-man' behind his back, because he is passionate about snakes. Well, he's also involved in the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife, and today he was involved in the rescue of a tortoise. He took it home, until it can go to a rehab - but his dogs don't leave it alone. So he asked if I would mind keeping it for a few days. No problem!
They came over, and it was nice meeting them face-to-face. We'd been chatting on WhatsApp, but never met before.
To cut a long story short, not-yet-Great A'Tuin is in the section outside my bedroom - where the fence doesn't have any holes, where it could get out. Poor thing is quite traumatised - when I got too close, it just retreated into its shell! I put down some grapevine leaves nearby, moved the water bowl near it, as well, and left it alone. I'll leave off mowing that partition tomorrow ...
For dinner, I treated myself to chicken cordon bleu! Delicious! Mippies didn't think so, though, ha ha! Mini seems to be better. She let me pick her up without complaint - she's never been one for being picked up. She's eating as usual, so ... maybe I'm a bit oversensitive? Well, better be safe than sorry!
Well, one more day at work and I'm free! Yipee! For three whole weeks! Well, okay, almost free ... but I'll take it!
