I struggled to fall asleep - couldn't find the right audiobook. There are only a few that really work for me, it's not just about content (i.e. the story), but also about how it is read. If there are a lot of volume changes, it's no good. At the moment, however, the issue is the voice of the reader. Male readers tend to be drowned out by the quiet whoomp whoomp whoomp of the ceiling fan. It's not loud at all, yet it is there. And then I can't make out the words being spoken - just hear a low mumble. Turning up the volume doesn't help. Yeah, I know ... I'm being very finicky!
I quickly went to Spar to buy my lunch and milk. Price of milk has gone up ... I only buy it on special, but the current 'special' price has gone up from the usual. Anyway, I also bought some cheese, tomatoes and a loaf of sliced bread - I'm too busy in the garden to bake another loaf this week, so I'll feast on cheese & tomato sandwiches!
Funny story: many, many years ago, when I visited one of my oldest friends for the first time in her home, she was making cheese & tomato sandwiches for her younger siblings ... and I ate them all! Ha ha, she didn't mind, she made more - but it's become a standing joke! I still love plain ole cheese & tomato sandwiches!
Years ago, I saw some 'toast-in-the-bag' bags ... you just put your sandwich in the bag, then squish that bag into your standard toaster: toasted sandwiches! Of course, there are 2 bags per packet. I tried it, and it really works nicely! No cheese or tomato juice in the toaster - comes out perfect! And you can simply wash the bags, like any dishes.
I used to enjoy strolling through supermarkets, just looking at what new, weird stuff you can get these days ... now, I prefer doing that in the comfort of my own home. Online! The only problem is, that most 'supermarkets' don't bother to make their dozen-a-dime (i.e. cheap) products available online. Too much effort for them - not worth their trouble. That's why I don't bother with those stores ... Plenty of online stores add such items. Sod Pick 'n Pay, DisChem and the like ...
I really regret not making myself dinner now! I'm really, really hungry now ... can't wait to get home! I think I'll make myself a plain sandwich before I go into the garden! I want to get that bed ready - just use the fork to loosen the soil along the entire stretch. Then I can clean / weed it at my leisure. Since it hasn't rained again, I guess once that is done, I had better get mowing again ... finish what they started.
I'm now planning & thinking of jobs to do when the ground is too hard ... with the sprinkler, I just don't get the same depth of soft ground. Rain simply is the best!
Back at home, I first fed Smeagol, then made myself a cheese & tomato sandwich! Awesome! I felt much better, and went outside - sandwich in hand - to start gardening. I was worried that the ground may have got too hard during the day, as the sun baked it. But I got lucky, it was still soft enough to drive the fork to the hilt! I managed to loosen all along the fence - although I did hit rock in some places. Right at the end, I dug up a large piece of pottery. It looks like it came from a large, shallow, round pot - similar to the two I have. It was heavy work, and I was glad when it was finished! Then I started weeding what I had just loosened.
It was past seven, when I went inside. I'm always tempted to keep going until it really is too dark ... but I also have to do my indoor chores, like packing lunch! I treated mippies, showered, packed lunch ... then I got stuck chatting in my game ... and it was getting close to ten, when I finally went to bed.
Ziva and Mewthos had been complaining, demanding attention. I had to get up twice, once to give Ziva a cuddle session, then to give Mewthos one, as well! Janey just lay on the chest of drawers and Mini was teasing Ziva! No time to write or publish ...
