Again: silly me for staying up so late! Again! Who would have believed, that, at this grand old age, I'd still be so hard of learning? Ha Ha!
Well, I had treated myself to the complete box set of Columbo, with Peter Falk. I never got to see the series when it was on TV - well, I was too young, wasn't I? We were allowed 2 hours TV a day - no more, so we had to pick which shows we wanted to watch. My parents didn't watch all that much TV, either - usually the news after dinner, then a show or two late evening, before bed. Mostly, though, books were their and our entertainment.
Anyway, I had read some reviews that many enjoyed the DVDs, including a lot of younger people, who hadn't been around when it first aired! So I figured it likely to be one of those 'undated' shows - which never gets old. So far, I agree with that! And I particularly like the 'reverse mystery' aspect. Instead of a typical 'whodunnit', with plenty of red herrings, with it's typical 'all is revealed, be surprised' ending ... this series starts with us watching the crime; then follow Columbo, how he figures it out. That kind of makes it 're-watchable', at least, it doesn't take the 'surprise revelation' element out of the re-watch. Like, with murder mysteries, when I still remember who did it - which takes something away from re-watching the mystery.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first two episodes I watched last night! Yeah - that's where I went wrong: I watched two episodes! I should have turned off after the first one.
I missed a call from the neighbour, who wants to mow my lawn. We agreed that I'd remind him Friday morning, that he can come Friday after three, when I'm home.
With that tree issue, I have a bit of a problem now: I had planned to place the succulents from the pots into that bed ... Since I've given some thought to that, though, I don't really want to place anything in that bed, until I've resolved the matter of that dead tree! Bit of an embuggerance, isn't it? Especially since I can't take care of that myself ...
Okay, new plan! I will place ALL succulents along the front wall, inside. Where I had planned to only place the Spekboom. Since I'll be turning that whole stretch into a bed anyway, I might as well fill it, right? But to do that, I'm going to need rain! Sigh ... I suppose that I could water the area ... again, only AFTER they've mowed that lawn, though! Sigh ...
Not so easy, is it? It's not just 'pick a spot and do what you want'! Well, that's nature! Okay, so tonight, I'll sprinkle the bed again while I work along the fence of my back lawn. Clear that area, then water thoroughly, so that - hopefully - tomorrow evening, that ground is soft enough for me to start digging the bed I want there. That's where I want to place all the bulbs. Amaryllis, Iris ... and this weekend I can look through my seeds to see what other flowers would be nice there. But I also want to get some Daffodils again! I miss Daffodils! That should keep me busy at least until Friday!
You know what? Bugger that! There are loads of rocks in that bed, as well. I can simply place those rocks strategically, to protect my succulents from being trampled! There, now! That's a plan I actually like!
When I got home, Smeagol was already waiting for me! I saw him through the garage window: parked next to the grill, right by his bowl! I fed him right away!
Mippies didn't venture far - not when Smeagol is around! I decided to start by pulling the last tall weeds from behind the outside building, working around to the front! Just as I finished, and was wondering what to do next, it started to drizzle. At first I thought it would pass quickly, but then it got stronger, so I packed up, got mippies inside and closed up for the night!
When they had finished their treat, it stopped raining! We could just as well have stayed outside!
As a result, I was showered, fed and all chores done by quarter to seven. Now I'm watching Columbo ... and I'll be going to bed earlier tonight!
