Sunday

I woke up at quarter to six ... and turned over. I woke again at quarter to seven ... and turned over. I woke again at quarter to eight ... oh, gosh! I had better get up or I'll be missing most of the day! What happened to my mippie alarm? Apparently I'm allowed to sleep late on Sundays! Ha Ha!

Urgh! Power is off! Again! So ...

I went to sit outside and play with my seeds. First, I started to make that seed organising thing I had come up with that sleepless night. It's really very simple: I just take strips of cardboard (with all those deliveries, I've got plenty of boxes to cut up!), not too long, though, or it'll get too heavy and will fold up. Then cut holes into those and peg packets of seeds in a row on the cardboard! With plenty of space on one side, so I can write any labels I may need!

Cool, eh? I've put all my squash onto one board, lettuce on another, herbs on yet another, etc. So I no longer have to rifle through packets and packets of seeds to find what I want. Why so many packets? Well, I don't have massive big beds for sowing, so I don't ever finish a packet of seeds in one go. Often, I use them for three or four sowings (well, should be seasons, but I get impatient).

Once I had them organised, I started sowing! I used up the rain water to get them started. I sowed Fennel, Chamomile, Parsley, Mustard, Celery, and Lettuce. Then I went and sowed more Tomatoes and Peas. Oh, and Catnip! Hopefully this time it will be allowed to grow! Last time, the pot kept being toppled once the first nippies started to smell!

And then the power came back on, so I dashed inside to start the laundry and the dough for this week's lunch bread! I also washed the dishes and cleaned out the bottom tray of the fridge. And threw away the trying-to-freeze-but-the-power-went-out bananas. And took the garbage to the boot, to take to work on Monday.

I've done the banking, ordered more cat food - I ran out of their favourite kibbles yesterday - and the surprise is ready! I have quite a bit of shopping to get done this month, as I have finished the last bag of potting soil, and I have only two bags of compost left - and my landlord also used the compost. There are also some seeds that I can't get online, so I will have to make a turn at Builders - not my favourite place, here, but it's the easiest. I also want a large garden fork again - mine stayed behind in PE. Oh, and some bulbs! Daffodil, Gladiola (just once, I'd like to see one survive!), and maybe a few others. Not too much, though.

The bread is baked, together with two rolls wrapped around a sausage each! I can't wait to try one of those! If that turns out nice, I'll get more sausages to bake into rolls!

The laundry is dry and inside, just waiting to be folded and packed away. I really should still wash the floors ... but I won't! I've really done a crap load this weekend! And I did wash all the piddles off, so there's nothing urgent to wash off, anyway.

Baking sausage inside bread? Genius! It's absolutely delicious! I can't wait to try this with the Berner sausages, the cheese one's with a thin bacon wrapped around!

All in all this has been a good weekend, despite all the power failures! I got a lot done, not just maintaining the household, but I made progress, both inside and in the garden! That's quite an achievement on a single weekend! Of course, I'm totally exhausted right now!

So, an early night for me ...
