I got up around six, made myself coffee and let my mippies out. I quite enjoy the dawn, before sunrise.
I decided to do the laundry today, that way it'll be dry tomorrow and I can take it down and have a clear bathroom during the week. Second load it didn't drain properly - again - so I washed the same cycle a second time.
I moved two more Spekboom along the fence and then started on the west side of the path, working from the path side only. That bed is too wide to reach from one side, I'll have to do the rest from outside ... later. It's also too wide to be done quickly, plus, of course, it's covered in little sprouting weeds. So it's slow going. But I'm making progress.
I'm finding a strange kind of root underground there, it's not attached to any plant - I've pulled it out end to end several times. It's white and full of water, almost rubbery. The bed is riddled with these roots. They tend to wrap themselves around plant roots, almost strangling them - which is why it took me a while to realise they are NOT plant roots. I've found the same kind of thing elsewhere in the garden as well. It reminds me of those weeds I used to get in PE - it's not impossible that I may have imported some of those. They make little green leaves through the grass while at the same time building an extensive root system absolutely everywhere.
Well, I don't think it's that weed that's in that bed, I think it's either the grass trying to re-grow. It took the whole day, but I managed to complete one whole side of the path - end to end. It's looking much better without the little green sprouts carpeting the bed. At least they were easy to remove, no need for glupsch! Ha Ha! And, of course, I could remove the entire root easily as well, so that should buy me another three months - as long as I do the other side soon, as well.
Sjoe, it just never ends. I've done a LOT of work in that garden over the past three months, really a lot - but there's still just as much still to be done! Like the lawn, for example - it's completely covered with weeds, there's hardly any actual grass there! Story of my life, eh?
When I watered the garden, I found that my Broad Been had two flowers! It's been flowering all day and I only saw it tonight, still I managed to take some photos! The flower is white but with purple inside the petals! Quite pretty! I'll definitely be checking on it again tomorrow!
I'm not sure, yet, what I'll do tomorrow, but I think food should be involved. I should make some plan for the week, even though it's another short one, since Wednesday is a public holiday again - national elections.
Right now, however, I'm just really tired. I was up a bit late last night, yet still got up early, so I guess that's catching up with me.
