Friday

Well, I found out what caused that funny mood on Wednesday ... all I'll say is 'menopause isn't fun!'

Work was okay, I'm busy and I'm making progress.

On the way home I looked out for the 'Fresh Milk' sign again, no luck. It was only up that one time, apparently, as I haven't seen it since. I thought it might be taken down after five, but that theory doesn't work either. I just can't remember where exactly it was, or I'd try to find out more.

Ah well, at home, mippies were happy to come out to play. I tried to just sit and relax, but ... well, you know me. I cleaned the bed on the east of the path, right back where I first started working in the garden. It's a narrow bed and a very quick job. The only weeds were quite tiny, so I got them all out. I also mixed some compost with into the ground, as I went along.

I tried sitting back and relaxing again ... yeah, didn't work out, either. I started filling some of the 'gaps' in the freshly turned over bed with more of the succulents from Rose's collection. The pot is pretty empty now - and I've decided I'll use it for cuttings, give them somewhere to safely grow some roots. I love having it on the table outside, it's like having a little piece of ... I'd say 'home', but this is 'home' ... in my garden.

It's strange, but I don't quite feel 'at home' here, yet. One of the reasons is that my mippies' lives are worse here in a way, simply because I'm working full time after being with them 24/7 most of their lives. And now they are shut in all day. But at least there's no road here, for them to explore giving me a heart attack. Another reason is the box-labyrinth in the lounge, since I don't have any separate place to store them, like a garage or a spare bedroom. But mostly what I miss is my daily chats with Rose! It's not that I don't have people to talk to at work, but I really miss Rose's company. Times when we'd just sit and either watch the cats (or a cat) or just sat in the garden together, me weeding, her knitting. Just company.

One of my most pampered re-plants today is a single leaf of the night-blooming succulent Rose got just before I left! I have only the one leaf, and Mewthos already cuddled the tip off it, but it does have roots, so I put it in the garden, nestled by some biggies to protect it from digging & exploring mips. I'm really hoping that one grows, I haven't ever had a night-blooming plant before! Well, it bloomed around sunset, not quite at night - but it did close during the days. Which makes it pretty unique in my experience!

And then I ended up digging a hole near where the Cosmos and the Vieruurtjie are in full bloom and planted one of the Spekboom in there. Some of them are getting really too big for pots - I'm just glad I 'rescued' them! At least they're alive and won't be run over!

I've been thinking and thinking and thinking and I just can't decide where I would like to plant them. Well, I don't have all that many options, but nothing is really perfect. As big as this garden is, there really isn't enough room for all the Spekboom! Oh, sure, there's plenty for them now, while they're all small, but I'd like a forever home for them, not just a 'while I think about it' home. Of all the options, I think along the south fence is the best, so that's where I've started. I'll see how far I'll get.

Just had some fun watching my mippies play with the latest box from ePetstore, it's a big one so they're having fun with it! I've put it in the bathroom, then sat down on the mat. Mewthos came ... and walked into the box and flopped down. Lady Jane followed, looked into the opening, strolled around it ... then started tearing a hole into one corner! Fun was had with Mewthos sticking a paw out, Lady sticking her nose in, then chewing bits off until her head fit through the hole! Then Mewthos walked out of the box ... and Ziva walked into it! I attached her favourite toy, the white crocheted string with the bell on it, to a milk carton which I'd put on top of that box. All in all, it was a lot of fun!

And now it's twenty to ten ... how did that happen? Ha ha, easy: I started scrolling through Facebook. Found a few funny posts, which I shared like: "Just found out those stick people on the back of people's cars aren't for keeping track of the pedestrians you've hit. ... on an unrelated note, does anyone know how to get sticker adhesive off a window?" And "Children are like pancakes. The first one's always a bit weird." (Yes, I'm the oldest). And "A kid in the park informed me that smoking was bad for you. So I popped his balloon with my cigarette & told him so was talking to strangers."

Yeah and that's about all that was funny ... yet, I just carried on scrolling in hopes ... ha ha ha! Yeah, that's how Facebook is a waste of time. Too much opinion-voicing nowadays on Facebook, too much politics. Well, now I'd better get to sleep ...
