Not a good night, after all – the whole cat colony
decided to frolic boisterously at half two in the morning! And when I woke up,
the most awful stench was coming from somewhere in my bedroom. I couldn’t trace
the source, so I can only guess the litter corner. I opened the window so I
could at least get some fresh air in – but I better find and clean the source
tonight.
I wasn’t sure whether I’d make it through the day and
was surprised to find myself quite awake and energetic throughout the day. By
quarter past three the site manager realized a misunderstanding – which results
in my having to come to work tomorrow! Not a nice thing to develop less than an
hour before home time. Since I had planned to get groceries & cat food tomorrow,
and I don’t have enough to last the week, we agreed I’d come in late.
The weather forecast is not good for tomorrow –
torrential rain! That was cool when I thought I’d spend the day at home, but
now I’ll have to go out in the worst of it to go to the vet and the store.
Eish!
Back at home, Rose won’t be able to visit her Shadow
and the Mip Mips tonight, as she has a prior engagement. Shadow is quite
disappointed, even though I pet and stroke her in lieu of a visit from her
human. Both adults want to go out, but Shadow doesn’t like that everything is
wet, so she stays inside – although every now and then she comes to look
whether the outside is dry, yet.
I don’t know where I found the energy, but needs must –
I folded the two sets of bed covers I’d had to wash, cleaned out the litter
boxes, fed the Mip Mips (who weren’t very interested) and put the next load of
peed-soaked washing in the machine.
Since the twins have a vivid interest in electrical
plugs, I’ve used the one board to cover it up, so now I’ve had to make another
plan in the passage. So I’m blocking the passage with the pantry door.
Spending some time with the cat colony, I’m dismayed
to find Quizzy Lizzy climbing up onto the chest of drawers! That, I’m afraid, I
must strongly discourage, so Quizzy Lizzy is the first of the Mip Mips to get a
smack from me. Several, actually, since she seems indifferent. I’ve also moved
the pillows she was using out of reach. Tiger Tim shows a tendency to covet my
company – he’s always around my feet when I’m in reach, and when I come home he’s
always sitting behind the barrier, as if he’s waiting for me. He also often
comes onto my pillow when I’m trying to sleep, and instead of crying when I
pick him up, he now licks my chin or nose and purrs. Not always, sometimes he
still cries. Just now he landed in the laundry basket! That was rather funny!
Well, better get to bed early again, since I can’t
catch up on sleep tomorrow – as I had planned.
