As I lay me down to sleep … I shot straight back up
with a soaking shoulder! Eish – another Mip Mip puddle right in the middle of
my bed! I was simply too tired to change the bedding, dry the mattress etc. …
so I just stayed on the far left of the bed. Not a good night, naturally.
Spending the morning cleaning. The reeking towel
soaked overnight – I took it out and I can’t smell any trace of cat widdle; so
I add all the bedding (two sets by now) the towel I had put into the corner yesterday
(which was soaking wet this morning) and set the machine to intensive wash
followed by drying. I’ve dried the mattress and found a third bedsheet.
Now I’m having some breakfast while I work out a
strategy how I can clean the rest of the bedroom. I thought of locking the
kittens in the spare room, but the washing isn’t dry yet. So – do I move the
washing or the kittens into the lounge?
I plonked the kittens in the spare room, the mommies
followed, then thoroughly cleaned the bedroom. While I was at it, I re-arranged
it, so there is more room to play. It’s quite hot today, so that was hard work.
Rose suggested I put black garbage bags in the Mip Mip toilet corner, which I
did, then the throw and the litter box on top. And a towel at the ‘exit’.
In the meantime, I went for a photo tour through the
garden – which I haven’t spent time in since the Mip Mips started walking!
These are now flowering everywhere!
The one and only Pansy!
These Sweet-Peas are two-coloured! Every flower!
These are flowering between the Cosmos
Stunning, large Cosmos
Snap-dragons!
More Snap-dragons
These Vytjies are blooming in the Rockery!
The Vieruurtjies in the Rockery are also doing well! These grew from seeds I tossed there
Check this out! There a pair of birds who made a nest on a Cactus leaf!
Look at those thorns - yet the birds seem quite happy with their nest!
Here some cute pictures - albeit bad quality - of sweet, sleeping Mip Mips.
Long-sleeve cuddling his slipper
Tiger Tabby curled up on the bed
Quizzy Lizzy cuddling up with Short Sleeve in their nest on the floor
Fortunately the carpet under the bed did not become a
toilet – every inch was dry! There is, however, a brown streak on the carpet under
the window – sigh!
Time to feed the Mini’s again. As they are finishing
off, Ziva and Shadow show up – Ziva, as always, craning her neck to get a
tongue into the food! As I’m packing up, I hear a bird chirping, very near by.
Strangely enough, it’s Shadow who goes to investigate. Turns out a Sparrow got
lost and is flying from my kitchen to the lounge and out the door – with Shadow
in close pursuit!
I also pulled a totally bitch move: I hung a bird
feeder outside the bedroom window! It’s getting lots of visitors and is driving
Ziva crazy, since the windows are closed and she can’t get at them! Muah ha ha!
Rose’s daughter would like to adopt a kitten, but she
was a bit worried, whether her dog would accept them. So today she brought him
to visit the Mip Mips and see how he would react. Poor dog never got a chance
to react – he was sweetly sitting down in anticipation when Shadow attacked
him, totally unprovoked! Ziva came to see what was going on and started going
for the poor dog as well. So I grabbed Ziva – and got bitten for my troubles!
And Rose grabbed Shadow and we locked the two in the spare bedroom – with me –
while they took the dog to meet the kittens. Not good – all kittens turned into
instant spitfires when they saw the dog! Hissing and clawing and spitting –
five week old kittens! Going for an adult dog ten times their size! So I’m
afraid these Mip Mips can’t find forever homes with dogs.
Rose’s daughter eventually gave up and took the dog
downstairs, locking the poor thing up in her flat. Back upstairs we let myself
and the two adults out of the spare room – both of them still stalked around
with bushy tails sniffing around, looking for the intruder, ready for combat!
The two female kittens were the first to come out … well, I dragged them out.
Quizzy Lizzy had calmed down when I pushed short sleeve out from under the bed.
When Rose’s daughter tried to pick her up, she hissed and spat and tried to
claw her! What feral little monsters am I sharing my bedroom with? I eventually
pulled the bed forward and grabbed the males – who still had their fur up and
tails bushy and tried scratching me! Me! Can you believe it? Well, I won’t
stand for that – I picked them up by the scruff of their neck and gave them a
good talking to!
This is quite a problem, because it means that they
cannot be adopted into homes where there are dogs – reducing their chances
quite considerably! I already have no clue how I’m going to find them homes … I
know so few people here in PE! I can put notices up at work, on the client’s
boards (if I can get permission). Maybe at some shopping centers – but that’s
all so vague, how can I tell they’ll get good homes, forever homes?
Well, spent the day cleaning up after Mip Mips, now
for some dinner, bath and then a hopefully dry bed!
