Mip Mips were racing up and down the bedroom from five
onwards, whilst Ziva meowed in distress over this unruly horde. Both mommies
went outside for a turn while I made my morning coffee. Both came back, but
Shadow insisted on going out again, as I was leaving for work – as I drove off,
I watched her blissfully take a dump in my garden! I sms’d Rose to let her
know.
After yesterdays spitfire episode, I’m giving the Mip
Mips cuddling lessons. Randomly pick them up and cuddle them – whether they
like it or not. Tiger Tim purred when I held him close, but the others just
tried to escape. I shall persist. Ditto Ziva. Time she learns to earn her keep
by giving attention, not just demanding it.
The corner had several wet spots again – but with the
plastic between that and the carpet, I’m not fussed. There are also several
kitten loads inside the litter box, so we’re getting there.
At work I’ve got a crappy task ahead. What should be a
simple update (i.e. print the updated documents and exchange them in the
folders) has turned into a nightmare. The updates are a mess, since the
so-called professional company did not manage to properly update the ‘Date’
column nor the ‘signature’ column – so now I have to fix all those oversights!
Personally, if someone can’t reliably update the simple stuff, I would not
trust their data! Fortunately that’s not my decision – I showed the site
manager and he decided I should correct their simple stuff. Nothing more. After
all, I can’t check their so-called professional data. Not my circus, not my
monkeys! But checking all their dates & signatures is a tedious job!
Tedious and tiring – even more tiring, as I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in
weeks!
I woke up a few times throughout the night with a
little Mip Mip sitting by my ear or somewhere on my pillow. I’m still worried I
might roll over one or more in my sleep – although mostly, I wake up in the
same position I lay down the night before. They don’t get out of the way, when
some weight descends upon them – that’s where their name comes from: Mip Mip is
the sound they make when their mommy flops down on top of them. Although now
they are bigger, it’s more of a screech than a meep.
I’ve contemplated locking them in the spare bedroom
overnight, just so I can sleep undisturbed – but then again, they are only with
me for a limited time, and that time is precious to me. I’m writing all the
down sides of having Mip Mips in my life in so much detail – should I ever be
tempted to volunteer for another such experience, I can make sure I’m better
prepared! I’m going to try placing the feather pillows on the floor under their
nest – maybe they’ll deign to sleep there instead of on the bed with me. They
are getting a bit above themselves!
Back at home, Shadow is eager to check on the Mip
Mips, Ziva is eager to tell me about her day and the Mip Mips are eager for
food! Feeding time, play time – they are now rushing into the lounge every
chance they get, heading straight for the PC to chew on the cables! Garbage
out, lunch packed, munching on some Biltong in lieu of dinner … it’s not even
eight, but I’m done. Bed. Good night.
