Late morning, so I started the day by grabbing Mewthos for a cuddle! He's always handy - sitting on my bed, waiting for me to wake up, so he can mewl at me for breakfast. He's not so keen on being grabbed for cuddles, but apart from wriggling a bit to get free, he endures it.
It was raining quite hard, and I'm somewhat nervous about Soutpan Road. It's really unpleasant being overtaken left and right, with no regard for MY life!
I had coffee and by the time I was ready to leave, it was only drizzling. Quite a bit of rainfall overnight, though - I'm guessing about 8mm? I'll see tonight.
I decided to do the shopping trip today, as it was dry - and I don't know what tomorrow brings. Could be raining cats and dogs all morning, and then there's the delivery to be prepared ... with them bringing in products last minute ...
Made a bit of an oopise: I read the Best-Before date on the juice wrong. It said 1st April ... and in my mind I translated that to Monday (which will be 1st March)! I only realised the mix-up on the way back to work ... silly me! At any rate, they only had one flavour ... well, four, but pineapple juice is not a favourite of mine, orange and cranberry are 'when needed' ... so I took one bottle Berry Mix.
They also still have the Whiskas cheaper than I can get it online, so ... stocking up! With everything going up very soon ...
I saw two interesting items in their meat section: Beef Roll and Pork Armadillo. The former was quite cheap, the latter very expensive - but I decided to give it a try. I also got some Blackberries.
I'm trying to find out about delivery of fruit juice to Rosslyn, again. So far, they've never had the courtesy to reply ... not to my e-mail, nor to my comment on their Facebook advert. Now I received a curt 'please see below list of codes for Pretoria' ... FFS! I KNOW that! Why do you think I'm asking about Rosslyn? Because it's not on the list, you mindless twatwaddle! Aaargh!
Reply: We can deliver Tuesday. Okay! So I register, fill my cart, try to checkout ... "We don't deliver to your area!" Aaaargh! So I send them a screenshot of that ...
Well, I've created the Gardening Blog: simplegardeningjournal.blogspot.com For now, the title is simply 'Gardening Journal' - I just want to start uploading the photos I've been taking, then add links to where I got which seeds, add photos of the seeds themselves, etc., etc. Just keeping track of new plants entering my life ...
Oh, and I wanted to share this photo:
I'm pretty sure I've posted it here before, but it is now such a rare image! It's taken inside the Union Buildings, from the back stairs overlooking the center courtyard and then Pretoria. If you look between the two flagpoles on the right, that little square building on top of the hill, that's the Voortrekker Monument.
First thing Nelson Mandela did, when he became president is to fence off all access to the Union Building. Oh, we're still allowed in the garden - but not anywhere near the building itself! That's not only fenced off now, but guarded!
This popped up in my memory-feed on Facebook yesterday. A friend commented that she remembered us knocking on the doors, then running away! Ha ha! Quite possible! I don't remember that, myself, though ...
Back at home, we had about 5.8 mm rainfall - no more. Not even 6 mm! That's about as much as I saw this morning, so ... no rain during the day.
I took care of the shopping, the basic chores, then tended to Smeagol, who wanted his lovies. I must have touched a 'no-go' spot, because I got clawed at one point. Then I cleared some of the tall grass from around the rose bushes, and I see that the next bush also looks like it's going to bloom again! Lovely!
Back inside, Mini is smacking my mippies!?! First Ziva, then Janey ... I've had to give her a smack to stop that nonsense! Now Mewthos wants me to get out of 'his' chair ... I had better comply ...
