Well, this was bound to happen sooner or later: one of the trees they uprooted cut a power line. They are removing ALL trees! Very sad, not just for me, but flocks of birds have or will still loose their homes. My neighbour told me of several species that used to live in the old tree outside... gone.
As long as they leave my trees alone, though.
Anyway, I figured there's no chance the power would be restored any time soon - I can only hope to have power tonight. I'm not counting on it, though.
Since there was nothing to do in the dark, I worked in the garden, after I had finished the inside chores, of course.
Mippies make me laugh though: I clean the biggest litter box - single use, 2nd biggest- same, smallest - used by all, multiple times! As if they're leaving a token of their appreciation in the large boxes, but the real business goes in the smallest.
I worked along the wall from the gate toward the water tower. The fork went into the ground like a hot knife through butter: no hard labour. I cleared about half a meter from the wall. I decided to start with that, and when that's finished, extend it to include the existing beds. I manage to clear about 2/9th before it got too dark.
I used my cleanser wipes again - in lieu of a shower ... sigh.
I also made a mistake with the cat food order: I got the kitten variety instead of the adult cat one. The biggest difference is, kittens have only 2 flavours, adults 4. Mippies will have little variety for a while. Ha ha, Mewthos won't mind: he cares more about quantity than variety!
I was pleasantly surprised, when the power came back on at ten last night! I turned on my PC for my audiobook and the fan! I'll be able to sleep!
Strangely enough, after the late night, I woke up early! Made myself coffee, saw Smeagol outside - but he left, before I could fill his bowl - and got ready for work. I filled a bowl to take outside - and then dropped it on the way to the garage! Because my eye was on Mini, who appeared to want to come with me into the garage! So, back inside, re-fill Smeagol's bowl ...
I'm not having a good day all round. It started with an ugly dream, then I dropped Smeagol's food all over the garage floor, attitude at work, and now I see we're back to load shitting! Starting at ten tonight, continuing until five Monday morning. Looking at my schedule:
Wed 16:00 - 18:30 ... sigh, very late shower!
Thu 00:00 - 02:30 ... sigh, bad night
Fri 00:00 - 02:30 ... another bad night
08:00 - 10:30 ... I'll be at work
Sat 06:00 - 08:30 ... remember to boil water for coffee the night before
14:00 - 16:30
Sun 14:00 - 16:30
22:00 - 00:30 ... either bad or very late night
Mon if they stop at 05:00, then nothing.
I think what also messed with my head was watching the DA's True State of the Nation. It's frightening to have my worst fears confirmed like that. We've all seen what's been going on for years ... but to have it laid out like that, plain and bare? That's quite scary.
So, I'm trying to clear all the crap out of my head today. For now, ignore the things I cannot change, and focus on the things I can.
Back at home, first my usual chores, then I watered my veranda. Lots of sprouts! Looking quite green, already! And then I decided to mow the back lawn. It bugs me, and I see it every morning and every night. By Friday it'll be a mission, again! From there, I mowed under the Jacaranda tree - which is not much use. The ground is not even, there's very little grass, but lots of weeds growing there. Anyway, many of them are a lot shorter, now.
And then I mowed in the partition outside my bedroom. I don't know what got into me, but I decided to mow the whole thing ... I managed to do about a third. The grass is much softer than the stuff I'm fighting on the main lawn, so it takes much less effort to clear a square meter. I figure, I might as well shorten it now, than let it get out of control again.
But tomorrow night, I think I had better continue weeding along the wall. Remember how long I had to wait for rain to be able to do that? It'd be a pity to waste the rainfall we've just had - it's still mostly overcast during the day, so the ground isn't drying out very fast. I had better take advantage!
