Scheduled chore day

I woke up with a headache!

Power went off around half nine - around the time I was ready to go to sleep. I got up and turned off the PC, but forgot to turn of the light! So ... some time after ten, when the power came back on, I woke up. I had to get up and turn off the light ...

I smelled smoke at the time. But I was so tired, almost groggy, I didn't have the energy to investigate - I just made sure there were no flames in my house. Which was not really smart, I should have checked outside, as well. Determine where the fire is, call the fire brigade, if necessary ... but the scariest part, now, is: I knew that at the time, but decided not to do anything. That's the depression surfacing ...

So, this morning I woke up with a headache. It's slowly dissipating, with the help of open windows, coffee ... and cuddles, I suppose. Though, to be frank, the cuddle demands are kind of a nuisance right now.

If I want to get my baking done before the power goes off again, I better get the bread dough started. Pronto! It's already quarter to nine ...

I don't like this pressure: get started before eight or you'll have to wait till past two! Well, I've started too late - and I don't like to be rushed on a Sunday. Especially when I wake up with such a headache.

Well, the dough should be ready by half eleven. Which gives me about an hour to shape, then let it rise again - while I make the muffin dough, plus half an hour baking time. Tight, but it should be enough. No pressure ... grrr

Headache is down to nuisance level, but not gone.

I followed Mewthos outside for our daily roly poly on the lawn ... then I watered the garden - and found one of the toads! It's cuddling an apple tree, under the tunnel on the veranda.

Ten to eleven, rolls are shaped and rising. I got eight rolls out of the dough. I only had five sausages, though. I filled two with left-over grated cheese and a few pieces of chicken, and one with a fairly thick slab of cheese. I'll enjoy that this afternoon. If you let it cool, that cheese just gets hard, but while it's still warm inside - it's delicious!

Now, I'm trying to take a break ... Janey came and is now sitting quietly on my lap. I can take a short break ... but I better get the muffin dough started. Soon.

Phew! I managed to finish baking before the power went off. Then I cleaned the kitchen, again.

Then I decided to play with my Rösti maker. I'm disappointed. It's very messy. And I ended up with just scrambled potatoes - not mashed, not cut, just strips, like teeny tiny chips. Which I expected, once I saw the actual gadget.

And then I was just knackered. And the headache was getting worse, again. I took a Disprin and crawled into bed - this time, I beat my mippies to it, so when they came for their nap, they had to find space around me! Ha Ha!

I woke up when the power came back on. And had to spring right back into action! I processed all potatoes ... and then I sat there wondering what I'd do with them ... if I start the stew as well, I have more food than I'll eat, and will end up throwing some away ...

I sat down for a think. Eventually I decided that I'd add the potatoes to the stew, at the end. Just to warm them. That'll make it a full meal - starch, meat, and veggies.

I cleaned the kitchen, yet again. Went a step further, cleaning the sink and the stove top. And now it's past five. Already. And the headache is back.

Aaand more snakes and ladders load shedding ... we'll be off the same times again: 04:00 - 06:30 & 12:00 - 14:30 & 20:00 - 22:30

Mini pulled another disappearing act, when it was time to come in ... silly girl! Scared me good and solid!

Well, I'm going to eat dinner, then bath ... then ... well ... not much 'then' left ...
