Friday the First

Aaaand ... I didn't get paid! I'll have to talk to the boss. He promised full salary as soon as clients payment comes through. That should be next Friday. I'll cope ... since I haven't topped up my credit card, nor bought electricity, yet.

Oh gosh! Changes to load shedding. Again. Well, at least, this time, they're down-grading - instead of Stage 6, we'll enjoy Stage 4 during the day - only Stage 6 from 16:00 again. That means we'll only be off 2 hours this afternoon, instead of the previously scheduled 4 hours.

Quickly off to get groceries. Ended up paying more than planned ... though the only 'luxury' was the pecan nuts. Which were on special. I want to see if I can grow trees from some of the nuts, ha ha!

And in the news today: mayor collapses after drinking tap water - to demonstrate the safety of same tap water! You can't make this shit up ... MEC responsible for fixing potholes has an accident when she hit a pothole .... now this.

Aaand, just after noon, power went off! At work! I went to sit outside with my book ... and quarter to one the power came on. Now to check how much I've lost ... sigh ...

WOW! That power outage affected a huge area! With the signal back, messages are flooding in on my home area's WhatsApp Groups ... everyone was out! The only one's who didn't complain, were those who's load shedding started at noon!

You know, every time to power goes off at work - where we're not affected by load shedding - I fear that THIS time, it's the whole grid. The whole country!

Anyway. Back at home. I decided to start cleaning the garage. I want to turn it into a store for all my recyclables. First, I cleared one corner. Then I cut the new outdoor broom out of its plastic condom. Geez, they wrapped it so tight, I ended up cutting into the wooden handle to get it off!

It's not a good sign, when the pile you've just swept out of the corner, gets up and crawls away! Ha Ha! Yeah, lots of insects in the garage. Oh, and I found the two toads, as well! Turns out they've moved into the garage. I've relocated them - into the garden. I wonder where they'll move to from there?

Well, I've started stacking some fruit juice bottles in the corner. and then spent the rest of the time removing all plastic (packing tape, labels, etc) from the cardboard boxes - all of which have water damage - so that I can use them as a weed guard in the garden. That took quite a long time ...

And then? I found Smeagol under the sleeper couch in my spare bedroom! Seriously! It took quite a bit of coaxing to get him out! Mippies were not impressed. It just makes me even more certain that he once lived in that room! Otherwise, why always go to that room?

Oh, another down-grade in our load shedding! Nice! We'll still be off from 20:00 - 22:00, but after that, we're on until noon tomorrow!
