Lock-down Day 518

Power went off during the night, but was back on in the morning. Sigh ...

For some reason the kettle wouldn't boil. I think it's just that it couldn't whistle - I'll have to have a look when I get home tonight.

Quick turn at the local Spar for milk, etc.

Back at home, I'm thinking that I should maybe take the lawnmower for a turn tomorrow ... only, it won't be long until mowing will BE my Friday project again. Every Friday. Yes, the areas where I've been watering - around the rose bushes and where I've sown the legumes - are looking green and growing, but ... well ... not really too bad, yet. Might as well enjoy the luxury of Friday projects while I can ...

One thing that's always a complete bugger to mow, are the strips between the rose beds. They are too narrow for the mower. I'm thinking of pulling the grass out there and placing bricks or something there - that'd give me a place to sit when I weed, too. I've got such a lot of bricks and crap lying around ... might as well put them to use. I can always replace them with pretty slates or plates one day ... or maybe even make my own!

Back inside, I'm taking a break before I start dinner. Watching Janey play on the scratcher makes every minute I spent fixing it, really worth it! She'll lie on her side and pull herself round and round! Which only works, because I added the extra rope at the bottom! I've watched Ziva play with the toys I tied to the pole, just happily playing catch! And they all use it to stretch their back muscles and sharpen their claws throughout the day! Really, it's such a pleasure to just sit and watch them!

Well, I've paid my bills. Just had dinner, checked the kettle - it's not blocked, I can't think why it wouldn't whistle? Anyway, time to relax ...
