I still meant to add to last night’s blog, that I
didn’t have my Kotlett, after all. I had prepared it, crumbed it, and put it in
the fridge but when it was time to cook, I wasn’t hungry, after all. So I had a
few cookies.
The biscuits survived the whole trip extremely well!
Only one or two, here and there, have cracked, but not actually broken – there
aren’t crumbs or bits of cookie in the bags. They look almost as good as they
day they were delivered! Every now and then, I look at the shelf where I store
them and a happy grin spreads across my chops :)
Since I just fell into bed, ready to sleep, Ziva
didn’t get her time in her cuddle cave – she let me know that that is not
optional! Ha Ha! She burrowed and burrowed until I scratched her ears for a
while.
I woke up to the alarm and enjoyed the luxury of
letting it snooze till twenty to six. All my mippies surrounded me, hoping for
attention before I leave … when I left to go out for a smoke, not one of them
mipped or cried! Once they realized I wasn’t leaving today, however, it became
a different story. Mewthos is especially trying! It’s like trying to put a baby
to sleep! He starts up again at the drop of a hairpin, and goes on sirening
until … oh, I don’t know what he wants. I pick him up, he’s quiet in my arms,
then wriggles free and starts sirening again.
I cleaned the litter box, only to have it used again
within minutes, so I scooped it again! Then I gave them a tin of sardines for a
morning treat – they all loved that! I packed away the dry laundry and now
there’s room to move again in the bathroom.
I scrambled some eggs for breakfast and ate with Ziva
in attendance. She sat behind me on the chair, getting her ears scratched by my
left hand, while I ate with my right. Then I changed the sheets and also ‘hid’
the two blankets under the mattress. It’s an old ‘trick’ of mine, to ‘store’
large blankets between the mattress and sheet. They take up no space there, add
to my comfort on the bed and stay clean – well, unless liquid comes through the
sheet, of course. That’s where the protective sheet normally comes in, but with
age, the protective part of it starts to crumble and that gets quite messy on
blankets. Anyway, the mippies are no longer wetting the bed.
Mippies love my linen shelf – I’m using the bottom
shelf under the two sinks to keep my linen – I just have to open the door and
all three come marching in! Given half a chance, they curl up and sleep on the
clean towels and bedding. I probably should, but I don’t mind. Especially since
it seems to quiet Mewthos. Let sleeping sirens lie!
I’ve taken down the kitchen curtains and put up my own
– only: mine are too short. Well, at least kitties won’t need to open them, so
they should be safe from claws. But frankly, even the ‘white’ lace curtains
darken the kitchen too much for my liking, so I’m leaving them open. They also
need to be soaked, then washed again – that dirt which came through the window
in PE was something awful! A single wash did not get rid of it.
And then I started clearing the lounge. Don’t ask me
what possessed me, it just sort of happened. And then it just sort of carried
on happening … okay, you got me: I have no excuse! I just felt the lounge
should not be a labyrinth of boxes – now it isn’t. I have a clear walkway and I’ve
unpacked quite a few books. I finished by unpacking two more kitchen boxes, now
I want to fry my Kotlett, then wash the dishes, prepare tomorrow’s lunch – and that’s
it for today!
Oh, I still need to take the sheets out of the machine
and fold and pack them away. I couldn’t really do that until now, because Mr
Siren was sleeping on them. He slept most of the day – thank goodness! When he’s
awake, the siren goes off – non stop! Lady Jane came to see what I was doing in
the lounge earlier, but, she also slept most of the day. It has been hot again –
I didn’t really work hard, just steady. Its going on six now, so I had better
do the stuff that must get done.
Oh, and I had a call from a friend – she’ll visit me
Saturday!
Right, now it’s half past eight and I’m dead tired.
Everything is done, my Kotlett was delicious, mippies had their treat …
While I was washing the dishes, Lady Jane wrapped
herself a little cave into the curtains which are lying on the table now! It
was so cute – I took a photo! Now, if only I could find time to post them!
Later on, when I wanted to go for a smoke, she had draped herself onto the
highest shelf in the lounge! And wouldn’t come down – I had to fill the spray
bottle … when I came back, she was running sheepishly into the bedroom, so I
didn’t have to actually spray her. And now, Ziva is waiting for her cuddle time
…
