Monday

I woke up some time before the alarm went off and got up when it did. Got dressed, had coffee and off I went on my merry way. It was a bit after six, and I struggled to get into the main road, even though I’m turning left and don’t have to cross. I think it will be better to leave a little before six in future.

At work, I’m starting to find my feet somewhat. I’m no longer totally clueless, but there’s still a long way to go and lots to learn. Today was meeting day, first conference call with the client followed by an Ops (Operations) meeting. Both to take place three times a week. Sigh.

After the meetings we drove to my place and picked up the little desk, one of the office chairs and the rest of the vanity desk. It had rained at home, which was a pleasant surprise.

Work was busy, I’m getting organized – and at least I didn’t struggle to keep my eyes open after noon today.

I got an sms from Rose! My drivers license is ready for collection! I replied that I’d call her tonight – which I had meant to do last night, but it got too late and I was getting tired. That was at eight last night, ha ha! Getting tired at eight – do I sound like a granny or what?

Back at home, I showered, prepared tomorrows lunch, set the potatoes in to steam, scooped the litter boxes – cor, they’ve been busy in those, today! – refilled the food dispenser, then switched on the PC to find that we’re hit with Stage 4 load shedding! That’s 4 hours a day without electricity! With no warning, no build up, just bam! Four hours switched off! I don’t yet know into which group we fall here, so I don’t know when the power will be off at home – but can you imagine coming home after a hot day and not be able to shower? Not for four hours? I mean, that means I can shower at ten – by which time I’m fast asleep!

I could fill a page ranting about this utter incompetent nonsense …

I knocked on the door to my landlady’s part of the house, to ask about the load shedding – they don’t have a schedule, yet. When the door opened, their little dog – also called Lady, though just Lady – got through and went after Ziva! Poor Ziva got such a fright, her fur stood on end and she dashed under the armchair! I think Lady was just excited to finally get up close and personal with these funny furballs she’s been watching through the window! She didn’t try to bite or attack, just wanted to get a closer sniff of her window-playmates! I think it’s time we gave them a chance to approach each other – though under close supervision.

I called Rose, it was good to hear her voice! Hard to believe it’s been two weeks since I’ve moved! She told me there’s a young police couple moving in on Thursday, with a toddler. And Romeo still comes for breakfast and dinner, though not every morning.

It feels quite strange thinking of Port Elizabeth at the moment – I have a completely different life right now. Where I used to play online to fill the time, I’m now so busy, I don’t sit much at the PC – though still too much for my mippies! Poor darlings, don’t have much of me, even when I’m at home! I just get busy in the shower, the kitchen, then sit at the PC for a short bit before I go to bed. Oh, and in between I leave them shut in while I step outside for a smoke.

Well, early night for me …
