Friday!

This morning it was quarter past four when I woke for the first time. I turned over and woke up a bit late – ten to six! But the two wake-ups are getting closer together, so, hopefully soon, it will be just one, and that one on time!

As I was a bit late, I took the toll road to work today. Once again, there was practically no production, so I decided that we tackle one of the shelves in the store. There is nothing worse than being at work, waiting for clock-out time with nothing to do but try to look busy – and I feel it’s my responsibility to set useful tasks on such occasions. That’ll be an on-going challenge.

I got everyone organized and then drove to a nearby Spar. There were three of us in the queue for lamb chops and we got talking. It seems that not all Spars even know about today’s special! And some were already sold out by nine in the morning! I was quite lucky that the nearest Spar had the special and wasn’t sold out, yet! This was apparently initiated by Jacaranda, the local radio station (like Algoa in PE). Here’s the whole story: https://www.jacarandafm.com/shows/scenic-drive-rian/we-lowered-price-lamb-chops-1-day-only/

I bought 3kg and paid just R250! I’ve got the space in my freezer, since I’ve only filled one drawer so far, the second one has only the bread. That should last me a nice, long time – especially since I don’t eat meat every single day.

Oh, and if you’re wondering how far my brain has recovered: as I was driving back to work, I realized that I hadn’t taken anything out of the freezer for my dinner tonight and I’m just about panicking what I can eat tonight. Hello? I’ve just bought 3kg of lamb chops! Yeah, it took a while to make that connection, so the answer is: I’m not yet back to standard.

At work, I still struggle after noon. Both with tiredness and painful feet. I haven’t worked a full day in too many months, nor am I used to being on my feet all day. It will get better, as I get used to it. For now, I just have to endure and push through.

Two thirty finally arrived and I could go straight home – grateful that I had done the shopping earlier. I took the old Warmbaths road, not the toll roads, home. I was a little anxious, whether I’d recognize the turn from this end, but had no trouble.

Right now, I’m just glad that I don’t have to go out until Monday morning! I don’t yet know, how I’ll do the shopping from here onward, since I can’t get everything around the corner from my work. I was thinking of maybe taking a day off every second month. Fortunately, I don’t have to decide right away, since I squirreled such a lot of groceries away in all those boxes – which is one of the reasons there are such a lot of them! There is, however, a vet just down the road – so, at least getting Royal Canin for my mippies should be simple.

Mippies have been really very accepting about being shut in all week! Especially Ziva – I was afraid she’d make a dash for it sometime, but the only thing they all do now and again is sit behind the door crying for me, when I go for a smoke. And not every time, just occasionally. I’ve tried putting the bedroom ceiling fan on last night – no problem! That’s quite a relief, since it really is hot in here. Especially after cooking, the kitchen retains the heat for a long time – since I can’t open any windows, not even the fanlights!

Slight hiccup, when I showered, half-way through the water ran out – I ended up drying the soap off! I asked whether there was a problem, apparently the flow meter decides that, since no water is being used all day, water shouldn’t be used after hours, either. It just needs to be switched on – but my landlord will fix that in due time.

Mippies still make a dash away from the shower when I turn on the water – yet step right inside to investigate, once I get out! I must say, it’s so lovely being able to dry myself without fear of knocking against anything! Sigh, though I still haven’t taken a bath, yet! I plan to do so this weekend.

When I stepped out for a smoke just now, one of the little doggies came to sit by the passage door. Mippies and doggies are already sniffing each other under the door, though there’s no room for paw-play. I’ve watched them a few times all three lined up with their noses trying to get under the door! It looks too funny!

Tomorrow I want to introduce them to the lounge. It will be tricky to get outside for a smoke, then, since I need them to go back to the passage before I open the front door, but we’ll work through it! We’ve got all weekend together! Although, I do want to spend a little time in the garden, to get those big Nasturtiums out of the pots and into the ground. They are taking over already! The white creeping geraniums are budding, so they will flower soon!

I’m taking it slow and easy this afternoon – what little is left of it. Only thing I need to do tonight is cook my own dinner. I’ve scooped both boxes, re-filled mippies food, and that’s about all that needs doing.

I watched a beautiful sunset, with the sun turning orange as it set. I’ve had dinner, and now it’s going on eight – I’m tired already, so I’ll have an early night again.
