LS 2 3 Dark 4 hrs LS 4 Monday

Power came on at eight - for less than a minute. Another trip! Teams investigating ... so I decided to take a bath. Took a long time to get enough water ...

Half-way through, the power came on and stayed on! I was able to rinse the shampoo out of my hair - water pressure!

Well, I baked the rolls and the chicken. I took the rolls out, but left the chicken in the oven - can't put it in the fridge, yet, can't leave it outside, ha ha!

With load shedding tonight at 18:00 - 20:30, I'm going to have a hard time trying to finish what I had planned for yesterday afternoon. I need to mince the chicken livers and hearts, pick the meat off the chicken, mince that as well, then mix everything together. Place some into containers to freeze for later ...

Right. Did my trip to DisChem. Stuck to my list - though I did go over my budget. Okay, I also bought three items not on my list. Only three, though! And only one was chocolate, the other two were going to be on my Spar list, only I got them cheaper here. The Rehidrat was less than 1% cheaper than online. But the white bread flour was 8% cheaper. The Wholemeal flour though was about the same as online. Sheez! That price was NOT on the shelf. Seriously, the way stores are doing their best to trick customers these days, sad!

Seems the Onderstepoort butchery has no closed for good. I've noticed it's been closed half last week already, this weekend I see the WhatsApp group has been closed and we've all been removed. Well, I have, at any rate. Pity. Their meat was really good!

But, it means that I can re-allocate the budget. Meaning that I should be fine, regardless.

Shite! The only way I managed to live within my means last month was because I did not stock up, but lived off stock. That's a problem, because stock is finite - I have to replenish! Sigh ... back to the drawing board, so to speak.

Right now, I'm listing cat food prices ... may have to make some changes there ...

Sigh ... and the first thing I did was go waaay overbudget on 'Whiskas'. Well, actually, Ziva is now eating more of her special 'Renal' food, which is hyper expensive. Still, it's 'cheaper' then letting my girl get sick ... so I 'balanced' the extra cost by buying the cheapest wet food instead of the Whiskas ... but the total is still more than my budget had allowed ... I wonder how mippies will react to the change? I've already reduced their quantity ... they only get 1 x Royal Canin & 1 x Whiskas in the evenings, no longer 3 pouches. Okay, so sometimes Mewthos twists my rubber arm ... still ...

The extra cats I'm feeding are a problem, though. Okay, the Iams is almost the cheapest dry food on the market. So, from now on, the ferals get ONLY Iams. As far as wet food is concerned ... sigh ... honestly, buying meat, cooking it and shredding it works out much, much cheaper!

I'm comparing ONLY by per kg prices. The food that's actually the best - as it has the highest meat content - comes at a whooping R427.58/kg! Whereas the cheapest - which has high rice & vegetable content - comes at R66.67/kg. Cleaned (deboned and skinless) chicken breasts are cheaper than that! And yeah, it's work ... picking the meat off the chicken is the most work, though.

OH Crapity crap crap crap! Seems our power went off again, some time after two ... it's now half past four, still no power. Only, none of my neighbours have said anything on the group, so I can't report ... not when I don't actually KNOW, only suspect!

Load shedding from 18:00 - 20:30 and again 02:00 - 04:30 ... Ai, ai, ai! Those chicken livers & hearts have been in the fridge for 2 days now, I have got to process them! I suppose I can try using my manual chop thingy ... though I think using a knife will probably be faster. Sigh ... I'll see when I get home ...

Better publish now ...
