Lock-down Day 379

Something outside had mippies excited half the night, I was woken by paws on my head a couple of times. By their behaviour, I would say it was an animal. The dogs were barking, as well. Not just next door. Mippies behave very differently when there's a human approaching ... people always dismiss cats as 'security', because they don't bark, nor attack; yet, they are a first class silent alarm!

At work, I had decided to shop today. Having looked at my budget, I shouldn't spend any money ... I bought some fruit (with seeds, too!), because I'm always hungry after dinner. I've been eating cheese, so fruit will make a little variety. None of the vegetables were within my price range, though.

The reason I decided to shop, was cigarettes. I'm rolling a lot of my own, but it's not quite a habit, yet. And cigarettes are on my budget ... but they didn't have any.

I got a call from my neighbour on the west. Apparently, as he's now mostly working in Limpopo, he wants to give up his place - but still needs a place nearby. He had arranged a room with another neighbour, but that fell through. I have 3 bedrooms, and could do with an additional income ... of course, I'll have to clear it with the landlord first. Anyway, we agreed to discuss the details when he's in the area again, next weekend.

I'm thinking of letting him have the 3rd bedroom - but I'd have to clear it out. Also, I don't know whether our landlord would be happy ... but that's one of the things we'll have to discuss.

Normally, I've become quite averse to the thought of anyone in my home - I'm not even eager for visitors, let alone a lodger! But I have been considering the possibility ... simply out of necessity! Money is tight, and work ... well, there's a reason my boss is finally listening to my proposal: he's desperate, too!

Back at home, the power is out! I feared as much when I saw that the traffic lights were off ... apparently it went off at noon, and it's affecting quite a large area, including Pretoria North. Apparently a transformer is out ... same as always.

And my flowers are dying of thirst!

Smeagol is here, he's eaten and wants lovies ... and  wants mippies get no lovies. Which is a problem.

At four the power comes back on! Yay! I hadn't started anything, yet - just updated my phone and was about to maybe play with some seeds. I can't mow the lawn, not in the full blazing sun! First thing I did, when the power came on, was to water my flowers! I had already given them a little water before, but now the pressure is back to normal, I can give them a thorough wetting!

Then I went and watered everything else, with the watering can. My Marigold are looking good! It's going to be lovely, when they finally bloom! I wonder whether I should sow a second wave?

I'm a little disappointed with the flower bed, though - seems that everything is yellow? I'm sure I added a lot more colour - especially with the sunflowers already filling the yellow spectrum needs ... well, I'll just have to wait and see!

I'm not sure what to do with the rest of the afternoon, now ... should do some weeding ...

I started by weeding the flower pots! Yeah, it's that potting soil I bought from the nursery. Their compost is great, but their potting soil has way too many weed seeds in it. Anyway, I then weeded the Marigold bed - that doesn't need much work, as Marigold tend to discourage weeds. A bit like Dandelions. And then I cleared around the driveway, then along the veranda - finishing what I had started last time. Until it got too dark to see ...

Smeagol stayed around the whole time, mewling (he sounds just like Mewthos! Don't tell Mewthos I said that, though) for attention. I'd give him some, every now and again - but always gave Mewthos attention first!

Now my mippies are inside, Smeagol has strolled off, and everyone is at peace. Sad that Smeagol still disturbs the peace ... poor boy!

Anyway, mippies want me ...
