Lock-down Day 371

Last day of work before the long weekend. At least, this year, we're getting paid for the public holidays!

Mini insisted I must get up, she pawed at me until I rolled out of bed. Standard morning, mippie treat, coffee, dress, off to work.

I went to the shop to get milk and potatoes ... and spent a LOT more than planned! Why? Two specials: fish fingers and coffee. With prices expected to go up - quite extremely - this month, stocking up on 'essentials' when they are on special is not a waste.

Petrol is going up by a whooping 73 cents a liter! On top of that, electricity will increase by over 15%! Where is this extra money supposed to come from? I mean, only government employees got a pay rise - no business could afford to increase salaries this year ...

I really get most of my exercise these days from shaking my head in disbelief ...

Anyway. At told me he's been invited to visit his sister over the long weekend, good for him!

Oh crap! Just before lunch, our boss called us all to a meeting ... business isn't going well (we are not getting orders, production has been frighteningly idle) ... he has no alternative but to retrench ... we're already on skeleton staff ... so now I'm depressed!

Since we aren't busy, we were allowed to go home - we'll have to put in a half day's leave. Rather than sit with nothing to do, I followed everyone else and went home.

Home at one. Nice. But I just want to crawl into bed, grab a mip for cuddles and hide ...

Here's something to brighten my day:

The first flower in my flower bed! Although, it should be standing up straight, not slumped over, kissing the ground for lack of water ...

An hour's watering and we're standing up again! I also see there are plenty more flowers ready to open over the next couple of days ...

I think the only thing that will cheer me up is, if I can manage to come up with a realistic, though very tight budget.

If you don't know me, this will sound strange: working on my budget is cheering me up! What can't be measured, can't be controlled. And given what happened at work today - and where that will lead ... I really, really need as tight a control over my finances as I possibly can get! And the more I measure, the more I see light ...

Mippies came in very, very early! I've already spent a lot of time with Janey, who appears to be cuddle-deprived and needs to make up for that. Ziva went outside the garden ... then couldn't come back, because Smeagol had settled down at the gate! She's home safe and sound now. Mewthos ... is Mewthos. And Mini ... is Mini.

Again, I didn't take photos of my seedlings ... no sweat. I'm calling it quits for today ... early night ...
