Monday afternoon, at quarter past one, the power went off! At work! Everyone just assumed it was load shedding, it wasn't. An underground cable had burned, which took a long time to find exactly where. We only had power again Wednesday morning.
I made as much use of that time as I could. Wednesday, I had some catching up to do ... well, not much more to tell.
At home, I'm a little worried about one of my mippies - and I don't know which one! I keep finding vomit around the place. Dark brown - at first I thought it was the runs, but definitely not. It can't be the food - or they'd all join in. Also, I always rotate the new food to the back, so it can't be an old box.
Thursday night some VIP was escorted through the toll gate - surrounded by police cars all waving the traffic to keep their distance. Funny thing, the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, is currently in South Africa ...
Also Thursday night, I was innocently sitting outside, watching my mippies. Mewthos was on the table. Next thing my glasses get knocked off my face and I have a bleeding scratch across my left arm! Mewthos! Tried to catch a bat! Sigh. At dusk, when the bats start swooping around right above the table, they drive Mewly batty!
And now it's Friday afternoon ... remember last week? When I had all that energy? Sigh ... none today.
I've been looking up some fun bread baking things to do and came across Stromboli! Never heard of that before, but what an awesome idea! I want to try that this weekend. I looked up a rye bread recipe and started the dough. I just took a peek ... no good! It's not rising! I've re-looked at the recipe ... I think I added too much sugar. Sigh. I guess I better start again ... but tomorrow. Today, I'm just totally without energy.
Fortunately I ate well today, left-over from last night. I cooked some pasta with brussels sprouts and Bockwurst cut into cubes, added some Feta and some curry sauce. Very nice!
My car radio has been giving me trouble yet again. It switches itself off while I'm driving and then switches itself on a couple of hours after I parked the car! Well, at least, with the car parked in my sight at home, I hear when the radio comes on and can get the keys, turn the ignition half on, then off and the radio goes off as well. Not like in PE, where the car was parked in the garage, and the first I knew of it, was when the battery was flat and I couldn't start the car!
Well, the dough did rise reasonably. I'd been looking up a lot of ideas, like making Brezeln - which I found out has to be dipped in lye! Wearing safety gloves and goggles! I think not! I also considered pastry - but that uses a lot of butter, which is really expensive, so ... again, I think not. So, when the dough did not turn out useless, I tried shaping a Brezel ... turns out, that's a lot harder than it looks! I made only one attempt. Then next one I shaped like a horn, then two straight and two round. Let's see how they turn out.
At least I didn't find any vomit anywhere today - so, whoever it was, is hopefully well again!
Mini has started a new game: every evening, when I call my mippies inside ... she stays right where she is! Every night I have to go out, pick her up and carry her inside! Not sure why, but I don't mind.
Well, one reason for the low energy today is probably the many paws. This week has been quite bad with the hot flashes - I've been going on and off like speeding robot! It's not very pleasant! I've also not been sleeping well this week, and with both those issues, I bought two bottles of coke this week - when my 1 1/2 liter water is finished by one, I simply need to get more liquids. And with me tired all the time ... some caffeine kick is helpful. In the short term ...
Ai, ai, ai! Seems I spoke too soon: Mewthos just hurled his entire dinner into the passage! All of it! I'm not sure what to do now ... I'm getting quite worried. Ai, ai, and now Janey hurled part of her dinner, too? What is going on, here?
For now, however, I'm going to bed ... worry tomorrow ...
