I was too lazy to write my blog this weekend.
Saturday I slept late, trying to catch up on lost sleep. Yeah, I know, it doesn't work like that, but it's the best I can do. It's those pesky mosquitoes! They really disturb my sleep with their constant feeding frenzies. I'm getting near my wits end what to do about them! Any 'repellent' usually contains citronella - and that's bad for cats! Well, not merely 'bad' but actually poisonous.
I've just had a look, apparently Rosemary, Mint and Chamomile are good plants to repel pests which are NOT poisonous for cats. Well, my Rosemary is coming along nicely, I guess I'll try to spread that around the garden as much as it will grow!
I managed all my chores on Saturday, and I could even wash-and-dry a load of towels! Landlord is away for a couple of days, so I can use my drier! Ha ha!
For my lunch, I roasted a chicken. Then I used the leftover chicken and some of the veggies in my loaf of bread! As in: rolled out the dough, spread the stuff and rolled it up before baking! Quite yummy! the only problem is, predictably, that the dough tends to clump somewhat - you get wet clumps rather than dry baked bread all the way through.
Sunday I got up a little earlier, but still had quite a bad night. I'm not overworking myself, and with the rain, I didn't really work in the garden, either. I did, however, sow some pansy seeds! Oh, and some California poppy seeds, too! Remember those beautiful yellow buttercup flowers I had in PE? The ones I thought were a weed, simply because they were so prolific? Yeah! Ha Ha Ha, turns out they came from a packet of seeds I brought to the garden! Well, I've sown all seeds in the flower bed opposite my kitchen, so they are welcome to spread there!
Oh, and I've also noticed that my sunflowers all face due east. So, next year, I will plant them all along the west fence, so that the flowers face me!
Last night was the first good night in ages! I slept through the night and woke up nice and early - so lovely! I think what I'll do, is get more rosemary seeds and start putting up pots with that stuff everywhere! I'll look through my seed collection, and whatever I've got that's supposed to be repel mosquitoes and flies, I'll put into those jiffy pellets.
