Spring Cleaning

Don't ask - I don't know what came over me, either! I got home Friday afternoon, and figured, since I usually have a lot of energy on Fridays, then little to none the rest of the weekend, that I might as well get some chores done. So, I loaded the washing machine and since the work pants needed a wash, too, I added two of the cat's blankies. Giggle, their hairs all transferred from their blankie onto my work tops! Lots and lots of lovely white cat hair on my black tops! Closest I'll ever get to a fur coat! Love it, though - the tops were beginning to look as if I had no cats at all!

I had planned on making myself beef stroganoff for dinner, and then - for no rational reason whatsoever - I went and started making pasta to go with it! I have pasta, plenty of it, but I just felt like making my own! Turns out, it's really quick and simple, after all! Just mix eggs and flour, leave the dough in the fridge for an hour, then run it through the pasta machine! It's the drying process that I'd been dreading ... and then I read in the recipe that I can cook it right away! It doesn't have to dry! Never occurred to me! So simple! Oh, and in future I'll make single portions - again, I followed the recipe, which - as usual - doesn't care about single portions. Learn something new every day!

The entire meal turned out extremely delicious! I used a can of mushrooms and one of chopped tomatoes with some sliced rump stead and sour cream. Then I added the cooked pasta - as I said, the meal was delicious!

This morning I woke up quite early, let my mippies out and then ... after a while playing my game ... I took out the broom to start sweeping the place. I don't know what came over me, but I ended up steam cleaning the bathroom floor, before washing it. Then I took down the curtains, washed them as well - not the lace curtains, they're too shredded! While I was at it, I decided to take down the bedroom curtain as well, then tried hanging my mum's curtains in the bathroom - but they wouldn't cover the whole window, so I left only one up. Now the brown with the blue and pink patterned curtains doesn't look ... right ... but at least I'll no longer open the one end when I close the other. That's been bugging me for a while, finding myself exposed when I step into the shower in the evenings!

And then, before I knew what was happening, I found myself washing the windows! Honestly! All of them! Inside and outside! I finished sweeping the flat and washed all the piddle puddles - now I can once again walk barefoot inside without fear of slipping in a puddle of piddle!

Mini caught a baby field mouse this morning. Poor thing was still alive, so I took it off her. She did NOT approve! And Mini doesn't know about claws, yet - so she dug hers quite deeply into my thumb. It's still sore! The baby mouse didn't survive, I'm afraid. But at least it died in peace, not terrified in Mini's mouth, squealing like a stuck pig!

When the floors were clean, the curtains back up and everything back in its place, I washed the dishes! Oh, and last thing I still did before going to sleep last night, was another batch of cheese! I haven't hung it to drip, yet - it's still in the pot. That's one thing I'm leaving for tomorrow.

I don't know where I found all this energy today, and on such a hot day, too! It was close to 40 degrees! I wish I knew where the energy came from - so I could use it every weekend! Not to spring clean every weekend, but at least to get done the things I'd like to get done!

And now it's just after seven, it's raining outside, so mippies are in already and fed, and I'm absolutely knackered! I've had the leftover Stroganoff earlier, so I'm not hungry - better post this, in case the power goes out (thunderstorm), and an early night!
