Ziva came to bed very late last night, which is unusual. When I saw her, I immediately knew why: she had a small injury on her head! Just a scrape wound, nothing serious. Still, scrape wounds are nasty. I cleaned it an put ointment on it - which, of course, she didn't like at all! But at least I won't have to worry about infection! I'm not sure when, where or how she craped the top of her head - could be when she was fighting that stray, who pushed her against the wall, or when she ran up the tree. She might have hit a branch on her way. But she's fine now ...
If you're wondering how I could have missed that when I fed them? Yeah, I'm wondering that myself. But the four of them are strolling from bowl to bowl, especially Mewthos' head bobbing from one to the other ... it's a bit crowded, even though there is plenty of space.
I'm enjoying my new morning routine - where I get up when I'm ready, and don't bother with the time at all. I get dressed, make myself coffee, treat mippies, have a smoke - or not - enjoy my coffee, cuddle mippies, whatever I feel like ... until I'm ready to go to work. I don't exactly dawdle, but I also don't rush. And since my alarm goes off at half six, I'm very, very rarely late for work.
Today is my sisters birthday, she's turning half a century today - ha ha ha, she'd hate me for putting it like that! Since I'm older, though, I can get away with it ... I think? Ha Ha!
I'm trying to get this spreadsheet together - I'm a little stumped. It's just buzzing around in my head, bouncing from challenge to challenge ...
After lunch, I - again - finished my water before two! So off I go to get another bottle of coke ... and the obligatory chocolate, of course! I cannot walk past!
I considered getting a fruit juice, rather than a coke - I wouldn't want to struggle sleeping again - but I was already feeling sleepy, so ... I'll bite the bullet!
That always brings to mind the German equivalent "In den sauren Apfel beissen" which translates to 'biting into the sour apple' ... and that always pops the scene from the Edgar Wallace movie 'Das Indische Tuch' to mind. Such classic German humour! Okay, I have to share this:
Back story: The family is gathered at a remote castle for the reading of the will of a rich relative. That will declares they must all spend the weekend together in the castle to inherit. One relative sighs "Tja, dann müssen wir wohl alle in den sauren Apfel zu beissen" (well, then we'll all have to 'bite into the sour apple') to which the butler (played by Eddi Arent) retorts "Zu diesem Zweck steht bereits eine Schale Obst in ihrem Zimmer" (for that purpose, there is already a bowl of fruit in your room!"
I know, we Germans are known for having no sense of humour - but frankly, this kind of dry wit is exactly what we love most! It just doesn't translate very well - so, it's usually lost.
Nice! I've just had a quick Facebook chat with my sister! She'll call me on Saturday, when she's visiting her son! I know I don't write much of them or about them - it's one of the things ... I don't know, it's kind of private. Even though this blog is all not at all public - it's FOR family and friends, who live far, far away! I mean, only a handful of people read it, anyway - and I bare my soul on so many topics ...
Anyway, back at home, I'm out with my mippies! They're all staying inside the garden tonight. I'm tackling the last of those frondy palmy things until it starts to get dark, then mippies happily follow me inside for munchies!
Now I see why Ziva's head injury wasn't obvious - it's really just a scrape, with some fur missing and blends in with her colouring. Simple as that!
Now I'm quite tired and mippies are being mewly ... wanting attention.
