Dark LS 4 3 4 Friday

I woke up around half six ... power off! Plug the WiFi Router into the USB Power bank, wait for the internet to wake up ... check messages ... power apparently went off around twenty past one early morning. Report. Wait ...

Fortunately I still had a cup of coffee in the flask ... didn't look like power would come back anytime soon, so ... tenant was working hard cleaning the bed in front of my succulent bed. He was already working there when I got up, so ... I decided to clean my tomato plants. Again! They need such a lot of attention!

One of the reasons I haven't planted more is that I already have more in the garden than I can maintain! The rose beds? Totally overrun by weeds! The gooseberry bushes? Chopped down again and again ... because they're hidden among a wall of weeds! The peach tree? Dropping fruit, I haven't even looked at it in weeks ... So I'm not planting anything that I can't look after! The grapevine is doing well, at least. Hopefully I'll be able to harvest some grapes off that this year!

Power came back around half past eight. I had just hauled the gas cooker out to make myself more coffee when it came on. Load shedding at ten. I've put my smartphone on charge ... brewed a fresh pot of coffee ...

Power keeps tripping - and each time it trips, PC crashes ... or rather, goes off. I guess I need a new UPS ... with what money?

Mommy cat brought her kitties for a visit last night - very late last night! Glad to see they're fine, but a little worried about where they're making their new home. I guess it's normal feral behaviour to move around, not settle anywhere ... I don't know. I'm just glad to know they're fine. For now.

I also started cleaning the Gem Squash plant - a lot of the leaves are turning white. It doesn't rub off, though, so it's not the same mildew I encountered in PE. I cut a LOT of leaves off! I counted seven Gem Squash! Two of them already big enough to be ripe - I'm just waiting for the stem to change colour. My tenant tells me that's how you know they're ripe.

Well, load shedding in a few minutes ... again ...

I watched a couple of Energy Expert interviews last night - I don't know why I do that to myself. They all say the same thing: given that we're load shedding at THIS time of year, when practically everything is closed? BAD! Best case scenario claims the problems could be resolved within 2 years! And that's the best case scenario! Which we're not in. So, as sick and tired as I am of load shedding after what ... six? Seven months? It's still going to get worse ... and continue for a loooong, long time!

Well, power didn't go off. Not at all. There's a major issue in Pretoria North, which was being investigated - Pretoria North is Group 11, same as us. I suppose that's why they left us on - so they could find the fault and work on it.

I went outside and cleaned the entire car port. Thoroughly. All along the fence - even went stalking around on the compost heap to cut creeper and clear the weeds behind the fence. Found a potato! Ha Ha!

Pottered about the rest of the afternoon ... too sunny to garden, don't wanna wash dishes, don't feel like cooking nor baking ... just meandered around, thinking ... eventually decided I'm uncomfortably clammy, so I showered.

Oh, I placed the rain gauge and re-marked it, so now I can tell how full it is from the lounge.

It's gone past five ... load shedding again at six. And tomorrow it's just normal weekend ... prepare for the work week ... again. Sigh ...

Mind is spinning in circles ... might as well publish now. Load shedding again tomorrow morning 02:00 - 04:30 ... then nothing until 18:00 tomorrow evening again. Sometimes it feels like we're back in lock-down ... going up and down the stages ... not free to do what we want, when ... it really sucks ...
