Good night, early morning – Mewly mewling. That boy is
such an attention seeker! He’s patient enough (considering his young age) to
wait until the alarm goes off before demanding hugs, cuddles and attention, but
boy oh boy once that goes off he activates! Lady Jane and Ziva just quietly
wait for me to get up – giving me occasional looks to let me know ‘Come on,
human! It’s time!’
At work, I am unable to log into my e-mail account –
it turns out, that it has been deactivated (or rather, it’s active contract has
run out on 30 April)! This is a big problem, because it means that ALL my mails,
contacts, etc. have been wiped clean. So, even IF they re-activate it, I’ll be
working on a blank slate ... Another major problem with that is also, that
anyone sending mail to that address will not receive any error message – no
indication that the e-mail address is no longer active, closed or whatever. Which
is quite an embuggerance!
Well, after lunch I could access my e-mail again –
and: Yay! Nothing was cleared! Everything is still there! So, I get busy.
Back at home, no Ziva greeting me at the garage. She’s
sitting on top of the wall waiting for me – with Rose moving her car the same
time I arrived, I guess she missed seeing and/or hearing me arrive. The wind is
too fresh for Rose to stay outside, so we had just a short chat. Upstairs the
Mippies are sitting still waiting for me to say hello before rushing off
outside! I try settling down while the Mips are out – as I look down, I see
Lady Jane stalking a Hadeda again! I go to get the camera, but I’m not fast
enough. So I sit down upstairs … and the Mips come inside. Sigh.
So I go outside, downstairs and into the garden so
that they go play and run off some energy! They do so enthusiastically … and I?
Well, it started with a weed here and a weed there, next thing I’ve got a bag
and I’m pulling them out by the handful! After a while, Lady Jane comes running
and jumps up onto my shoulder! Seems she wants a cuddle session … NOW! I feel
like an errant tree stump to be jumped on at her convenience, he he. Well, they’re
both done playing, both want cuddles now, so I give up and go upstairs.
Cuddling. For a while, at least.
Ziva come running in just as early as the Mips – and I
close the door. It’s getting dark, though still twilight – but I’m not letting
her out again. She performs her usual mourning for the great outdoors she’s not
allowed to enter. I try something I read today, with their wet food: I mix a
bit of hot water with it, then mush it with a fork – so the whole meal is warm.
All three start munching eagerly!
I spend a bit of time playing with the Mips – since Mewly
is mewling for attention – but they’re not really in the mood, so I go take a
shower. As I step out I find Mewthos standing on the basin staring intently at
me, Lady Jane soon follows and while I’m drying myself those to jump into the
bath investigating thoroughly!
Lady Jane came for an intensive cuddle session and
Mewly is asleep on the chair next to me. Ziva is in the bedroom. I have a busy
day ahead tomorrow – I’ll be on my own, no distractions, so I can work on that
visa application.
Speaking of which: when I first arrived in PE, someone
asked me to help with her visa application. I did. Three hours work. In return –
instead of money – I asked for some gardening advice now and then. Which never
happened. Today I was asked to help her with the same application for another
visa. I said ‘No’. And gave the reason.
I got some evasive mumbling – she didn’t even ask me herself, she sent someone
to ask on her behalf, if you can believe that!
Anyway, I bumped into a few site-friends today I hadn’t
seen in months! It was nice to catch up – who knows if we ever meet again! That’s
one of the down-sides of my job. You meet a lot of people, make friends, and
when the project is finished, everybody leaves.
