Not the best of nights. The Mips decided to play on my
bed after I had gone to bed. And this morning THEY decided what time I should
get up – I had no say in the matter. Okay, so the alarm had gone off already,
but I was really tired. Still am. However, all three jumped on the bed, jumped
on me, Mewthos mewling, Ziva chattering … eventually Mewthos jumped on top of
the chest, knocking down my phone, my cigarettes, about to knock my glasses to
the floor – knowing I MUST react to that! Impudent imp! So I opened the front
door and went back to bed.
Not for long, though, as I’m sure you can imagine.
Mewthos wants cuddles. That’s not negotiable. Sigh.
So I get up, make coffee and get busy with the online
adventure. Mips coming for cuddles on and off. I finally have Lady Jane’s
adoption form, so I fill it out, pay and send it all back.
The sun is really blazing today, so I’m staying safely
indoors. The Mips and Ziva are out, though – I’ve placed the sandbox in the sun
to dry and figure this would be a good time to vacuum!
Finally get a chance to vacuum my bedroom! Thoroughly –
though not to the point where I go under the bed. That’s pushing it a bit – on a
day when it’s nearly 30°C in the shade!
Trying to put the sandbox back, Mewthos keeps lying on
top of each item I put down, mewling! I’m beginning to guess he doesn’t want to
use the sandbox in the sun, but wants it back in its corner … NOW! With his continuous
interference, it’s quite tricky and takes a lot longer than it should have. Too
long for his liking – so he uses the one in the bathroom instead! Mylady won’t
condescend to use any alternative, so I better put the sandbox back in its
place – regardless of dryness of the sand. They didn’t have sand anywhere I
went this week, so I can’t top it up.
The worst part of vacuuming is having to clean the vacuum!
Especially on a hot day, when I’m covered in a layer of sweat and the dust
clings to me like a bad reputation after a good night out!
Well, I somehow found the energy to vacuum the lounge
as well. Then chose one of the salads to replenish my energy. Baby Marrow
Chicken Peanut Dressing – except that the dressing is at the bottom, which I
didn’t know until I’d eaten enough salad to find it. Happy Easter, eh?
The cats are all annoyingly whiny today – every single
one of them comes in at one time or another crying for attention! I’ve had
Mewthos on my chest for five minute stretches – it’s too hot for comfort! I put
him down and shortly after he comes back, crying. Ditto Ziva. Only Lady Jane is
quiet, so I give her some attention anyway.
I decide to take an early bath, just to get the layers
of heat and dust off my skin. Finish off with a cool shower, so I don’t put on
another layer right away. With no window open inside, it’s quite stuffy in
here, outside there’s at least the odd breeze – nothing worth writing home
about, just the occasional light breeze.
Now, if only there was some comfortable means of
sitting in the garden. I used to have two perfect garden chairs, which could
lean back most comfortably – but they got lost in a move. They got offloaded at
the wrong place. I was promised that it would be rectified – but yeah. Never happened.
Maybe I take one of the throws and put that down on
the lawn? But then, what’ll I do in the garden? Sigh, I’m not much one for idleness.
And all my projects nowadays are centered on the computer. And the garden is
currently too devoid of flowers for sketching. And despite the mini-breeze, I’ll
probably just fall asleep!
As I’m deciding, Rose is out moving her car. We talk
about what to do, I mention my dilemma and she offers to teach me to knit. She
meant it as a joke – but the look on her face when I said “I’ll get my
knitting!” That was priceless! I started knitting what was then meant to be a
jersey sometime in the 80’s. Since then I’ve knitted way past jersey length –
plus: I’ve expanded way past where it could fit. So I’m just going to keep
going until I run out of wool and then use it as a scarf.
But since I haven’t knitted at all in a decade, I’d
forgotten how. That’s where Rose had to show me – only: I learned what is
back-to-front to her. I hold the wool in my left hand, not my right, and work
in the front of the knitting. But with her help, my hands remembered and I
knitted three or four rows. I’ll have to keep going to make sure I don’t forget
again!
We had a bit of a heart-stopper, when Lady Jane
decided to investigate the road! She followed Ziva and Shadow, who were hanging
out under the tree outside my garden. Rose got up to get her back – as I was
barefoot. When she got to the gate, she saw Lady Jane sitting at the curb stalking
a pigeon which sat in the middle of the road! She doesn’t listen to me nor
Rose, which is quite disconcerting. Mewthos won’t go that far from me – that at
least is a relief!
Back upstairs, both Mips settle down in a single
flower pot. Poor Chives, they have no chance against two kittens! Ziva prefers
to sit outside. She’ll call when she’s ready to come in.
I guess neither Ziva nor Shadow understand why I have
such a problem with the Mips going outside the garden – after all, they go all
the time. Well, Shadow gets to go out all the time, Ziva doesn’t get to go out
after dark anymore.
Right now she’s sitting by the door demanding to be
let out – and I’m about to climb the walls with annoyance. Well, it’s going to
be a long night, methinks!
Wow :)
