I wasn't up for writing anything yesterday, so ... here's my Friday (written on Saturday morning).
My aunt had been mailing that she wants to send me another birthday transfer - I confess, I feel a little awkward and puzzled. I'm not rolling in it - not by a long shot, but I'm okay. I'm a little confused why she feels the need to send me money - and also feel a little awkward about it.
I had a message Thursday night from the bank, saying that I need to call them about an international transfer. So, I made time for the call ... it took almost 10 minutes, mostly on hold - and the upshot was: I need to go in to a branch. Now why couldn't they just have said that in their message?
It's about the change of residential address, which I had declared last time, but never followed through on. So, I had to take my lease agreement to the bank. I'm really glad I bank with Capitec, because going in to that bank is not the nightmare all the others are! And since I was there very early, I didn't even have to wait. The representative was professional, and very helpful! Yes, it took quite a while, but at least I can be sure that no stranger can come in and make changes to my account. They took all my fingerprints again, verified my face, etc.
And then HE called the number for the international transfer and sorted it all out for me! Well, he handed me the phone, as I needed to provide security verification - again - but by that time everything else was in place. That call also took almost 10 minutes!
Then they told me the amount! I nearly fell off my chair! That's more than a month's salary in our money! And with our currency having strengthened since last time, it's more in her money, too!
I spent the rest of the day in a kind of euphoric daze ...
