Week Part 2

My, oh my, do I have a lot to tell! I just wish I had the time to tell everything - I'll try!

Okay, first, the rain is still continuing and by Thursday afternoon temperatures had dropped 20 degrees! Instead of 36 it was 16 degrees Celsius! I was actually freezing! Even though I had a long-sleeve top plus a warm jacket on!

But the rain? Just going on and on and on, just absolutely fantabulous! I spent a lot of time at work reading about the seeds I had gotten, picking out which I can sow where - and learned something new: some seeds shouldn't be covered with soil, as they need light as well as moisture to germinate! That explains why my Oregano and Chamomile hasn't come up this time!

On the way home, I stopped for milk. I ended up taking four liter, as there was a slight misunderstanding and my bottle had been left for Monday; so it was either only the 2 liter or 4 liters. Although I won't be making cheese this weekend, I'm sure I'll finish all the milk!

At home, I started by sowing the seeds I had planned at work. I planned what and where to sow, so I could proceed quite fast. It had stopped raining, so I didn't get wet while working. Funny thing happened though, with the ground all wet, mippies didn't run very far. Ziva watched meticulously as I sowed the chamomile and parsley seeds into the round bowl. When I was finished, she stepped in to investigate! She was quite puzzled when I asked her to leave the seeds - I mean, why would I do anything, if it wasn't done for their benefit? It was one of those sweet, family moments!

Last, I sowed the African Daisy seeds, which I had planned behind the spekboom, right at the fence. As I was working there, bent over, turning the ground, sowing seeds, Mewthos decided that, if mommy isn't paying attention to him, he'll pay attention to mommy! He jumped on my back and settled down, happily! I ended up moving along the row with Mewthos perched on my back!

When I had finished all the seeds I had planned, I started turning the ground in front of the spekboom working northwards. I haven't quite decided what I'll do there, but turning the ground and clearing all those weeds is a good start.

I ended up working until it was too dark to see! And through the work, I had warmed up and was no longer freezing!

Leon had taken full advantage of the rain and had first put my small watering can under the outlet from the gutter, then a bucket and then he got inventive and filled my waste bin - the one he had put outside for me, which I never use! I now have enough rain water to water my whole garden at least once!

Oh, and at night? I keep waking up to a 5th cat sitting on the window sill outside my window! Sir Galahad! The knight in orange fur comes to court my ladies.

That's about it for now, I'll write about the weekend on Monday ...
