I’ve been writing so many circulars for the game, that
I haven’t gotten around to writing my blog! It’s starting to pay off, though! I’ve
got two fellows who volunteered for two tasks, and a discussion going on the
way forward with respect to finding active players to join our fellowship. I’ve
actually started a second city, with the idea of running a ‘training camp’ –
finding new players, build them up and bring them into our big fellowship, when
they’re ready! Since everything in my main, big city takes a long time to
upgrade or build, I do have time every day to keep building the mini-me as
well. It needs more attention at first, to set up when everything is quick and
fast; and now I’m recruiting, which is also time-consuming. But once it’s set
up, I should be able to manage with my normal evening play-time.
I’m preparing a number of circulars, teaching about
basic features, strategies and such – but once they are done, I can rotate
through them with every new batch of recruits. There will be a lot of coming
and going, I suppose, since I plan to ruthlessly boot anyone not playing daily.
Why? Well, loads stop playing after a week or so – the map is full of ‘dead’
cities. With new players, no need to hang on, to wait and see. If you’re not
hooked from the start, you’ll most likely quit anyway.
